1. Role and Scope of Position:
The Domain Architect, Senior, has technical expertise within his/her domain focus areas. A domain area could be a technology area (for example, network, middleware and desktop), or may encompass business functionality supported by technology (for example:
Maximo architect, Digital Architect, Metering Architect, Billing Systems Architect). The Domain Architect, Senior, has a deep understanding of the capabilities of a business application family and/or set of technologies within the domain, and ensures that these capabilities are fully utilized and effectively optimized to make leveraging them efficient. He/she evaluates the technologies against vendor product roadmaps, competitive products, and market trends to ensure that the domain meets current and future Eversource needs. The Domain Architect, Senior, is responsible for contributing to the domain roadmap, standards and practices into the overall Enterprise Architecture as well as supporting solution development efforts guided by Solutions Architects that involve their assigned domain. Efficient governance over the domain is necessary to ensure that the technologies are incorporated into solutions in compliant, standard, and supportable ways.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for successfully applying the technology in their domain to solve business problems in a supportable, cost effective, way. Understands how the domain supports Eversource needs and assesses current capabilities and future needs to identify necessary changes to the domain technologies or practices. Develop guidance for incorporating the technology within their domain into solutions, including defined standards, reference architectures, solution guidelines and metrics. Define patterns and building blocks that leverage domain technologies in an optimal way. Develop integrated multi-domain capabilities that address common needs. Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business needs, including those of IT. Define high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the current and future state, typically in sync with the IT budgeting or other capital planning processes. Lead the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. In addition, lead the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise as well as on the enterprise technology architecture. Coach, mentor and collaborate with technical subject matter experts and EA to develop technology architecture that enables and drives new business capabilities and operating models. Oversee and facilitate the research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations and technology platforms. Develop and iteratively deliver standards and configurations for completely new technology, leading the evolution to mainstream use. Incorporate domain standards, practices, guidance and roadmaps into the Eversource Architects and communicate them via architecture documents, meetings or other channels. Periodically review and maintain the accuracy of the information. Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures and culture) and financial impact of changes to the technology architecture and guide all aspects of the change to successful conclusion. Lead and manage a team of technical architects, peers and subject matter experts to integrate diverse knowledge across a technical area. Participates in Eversource Enterprise Architecture processes as the expert in their domain(s) and leads groups of other architects in reviewing and aligning architectures for consistency and relevance. Provides expert consulting and oversight to solutions architects and others who are using or modifying multiple domain technologies within a solution, understanding their needs and leading changes across domains to provide new technology capabilities. Work with other solution architects to integrate delivery of new domain capabilities into solution work, managing risk and optimizing outcomes. Responsible for Governance over solutions that span domain technologies and domains. Review and approve designs and implementations to ensure efficient, effective and compliant solutions. Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies and processing environments Deep knowledge across multiple domains, with the ability to look at external and internal drivers and propose changes that span domains, anticipate future capability needs and address common challenges. Knowledge of many, if not most, aspects of the technology domain architecture, including current technology and vendors, emerging capabilities, best practices and patterns, cost models, and management and operating model considerations Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies Understanding and knowledge of IT service management (ITSM). Understanding and knowledge of IT standards and controls Education:
Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree is a plus
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in an IT Architect or Lead Subject Matter Expert role A minimum of 10 years related experience working with technology or application solutions, including experience in architecture, design, implementation, support, and management of the technologies appropriate for the specific positions Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required. Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary. Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, writing and typing. Work involves using a computer and telephone as well as personal communication.
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Systems Architecture & EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
